No Loud Music!
In Colorado, a lot of people were complaining about noise violations. The music kids played was loud and they did not like that type of music at all. A judge decided that he would take all of those kids and make them listen to loud music they did not like at all. The judge played Barney and other types of music they did not like. The kids had to listen to the music for an hour to teach them a lesson. I couldn't believe it, he used such a creative way of punishing them and found a solution. He also made sure that they knew how other people felt when they put on their loud music that other people didn't like.

Shrimp on a Treadmill(:
Scientists put shrimp on a treadmill? Well, it's true, scientists put shrimp on a treadmill to learn about marine animal's immune system. The studies showed that healthy shrimp ran a lot faster than sick shrimp. The healthy shrimp ran at an average speed of 20 meters per minute. Sick shrimp would didn't do as well as the healthy shrimp. The sick shrimp would lack in doing a lot of things like finding food, migrating, and even avoid being eaten. I think this experiment is really cool. Marine animals are my favorite and I think it would be cool to learn more about them. (:

Sonic Boom
Yesterday, a space shuttle landed in California. It was pretty scary because I was outside and I didn't know what it was. But then I found out it was a Sonic Boom. The space shuttle was supposed to land in Florida but it didn't because of bad weather. The space shuttle was going 235 mph and caused two sonic booms as it broke the sound barrier.

Thanksgiving(:
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I am sure everyone is excited because you get to eat a lot. I sure am. This year I am going to help my mom cook. I can't wait to taste the turkey. This year is going by pretty fast and holidays are coming up too. Thanksgiving is a special day to be grateful and thankful for what you have. I hope everyone has a special Thanksgiving this year. (:
Turkey Bowl Cancelled):
The 8th grade turkey bowl at Frost Middle School has been cancelled due to weather. It has also been cancelled because it is too wet to play football. Many eight graders are upset. If the administration moves the turkey bowl to next week, it won't be a turkey bowl it will be a holiday bowl. I think this really sucks because it is a turkey bowl not a holiday bowl and it takes a little bit of the fun out.

Holiday for Peace Tournament(:
On Saturday at Sylmar Park, there was a softball tournament. Many different teams from different places were there. I play for SIBL. My team played four games. It was tiring, but worth it because we won 1st place and the championship. I had an awesome time. The two teams that made it to the championship were Sylmar Park and SIBL. We were at the park from about 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The championship game was a nail-biter. My team and the other team kept tieing. We were tied, we were down, and we were up many times. It was a really awesome game.
Dogs in war
Dogs actually go to war. Can you believe that? I think that's awesome. Dogs are a men's best friend, a pet, and play a special part in war. There has even been a veterinarian hospital for them when they get hurt. The veterinarian hospital has underwater treadmills to help the dogs recover. I think this really is cool and I think that the veterinarian hospital is great because they deserve it if they're helping.

The Great American Smokeout
Today is The Great American Smokeout. Today is a day where smokers quit smoking for one day. Today is a great day to quit smoking. Smoking is very bad for your health and the people around you. It also causes lung cancer. I don't allow my parents to smoke because I think that it's really bad. I think that this is a great day to quit smoking.
Dress for Success(:
Monday is dress for success day at Frost. Dress for Success is when the students can get all dressed up. Students can dress up but it has to be dressy and there are guidelines. Students are supposed to dress up as if they were going to an interview for their dream job. I think this is a really good idea because they can show their friends what they want to be. I like this idea very much, I think it's a great way to show school spirit.

California Wild Fires
A new fire started on Friday night. I wasn't home when they evacuated my house. I went to my house on Saturday just to get a few things and it was horrible. I was so scared there were cops everywhere it smelled like smoke, and there were ashes everywhere. The sky was gray and it was very windy. I stopped at seven eleven and I saw a lot of police. On my way out I also saw firefighters and I could hear the sirens. Everything is a little better now, but my house still smells bad. The fire has spread to a lot of places and is still spreading. It has also burned down many houses.

United Way Homeless Walk
Tomorrow, my family and I will be doing a three mile walk called the United Way Homeless Walk. The walk is for homeless people. My mom and my little sister are going to do the walk with me. I am so excited because I love helping out. My family and I are always doing things to help out. It's like the best feeling in the world knowing that you helped someone. I think it's a lot of fun and you get to help someone. It also makes me thankful for what I have. I hope I encourage people to help out too because it's a lot of fun and it gives you a great feeling. (:
Frost Turkey Bowl
Every year at Frost, we have an annual Turkey Bowl for eight graders. There are two football teams: UCLA and USC. All eighth graders may attend as long as you are on grad. The Turkey Bowl is on November 26. I am so excited because I have been looking forward to the Turkey Ball since I was in seventh grade.

Financial Problems
Many people are facing financial problems and are losing their homes. People have been laid off and can't find a job. More people are beginning to lose their homes and belongings. But many people go to a homeless shelter where each person gets a tent and is fed. Many people also volunteer to make the sandwhiches for the homeless people. I think this is a great way to help others get back on their feet.
Veteran's Day
November 11 is Veteran's Day. This is a special day to honor people who have served in our army. There was no school and some people didn't go to work. I think this day is very special and important because it's a special day to honor people who fought for our rights.

Virtual Video Game
Millitary Experience
The army made a virtual game that gives you millitary experience. I think that this isn't really a good idea because war is cruel and it's not a game. If a kid likes this game and decides to join the millitary because they liked the game, it's not a good thing. War is the opposite and it's not a game. I really don't like this idea. What do you think?

Frost Donates
Donations for the millitary
Robert Frost Middle School is donating items to the millitary. My school is going to donate fruit roll ups, red vines, beef jerkey, or bubble gum. We can donate anything type of food that will last a long time or we can donate money for the shipping. I think this is a really cool idea because I have a family member in the millitary. We should give them something for fighting for our country. I admire people in the millitary a lot because if it weren't for them, we wouldn't have rights. I am definetely going to donate because of my uncle. I hope everyone else donates too.

2008 Presidential Election
President Obama
Obama has won the election as our new president. Obama won the election with 349 electoral votes and McCain had 173 votes. Obama won by 166 electoral votes. My parents and I voted for Obama. Obama made history last night as the country's first african american president. I think it's good that we have change and I'm very happy that Obama won.(:

A remarkable story
Kick for Nick
This is a very interesting story. This guy named Mark was serving the army and he saw kids in Iraq playing soccer with cans. He thought imagine if they played with real soccer balls. Nick wanted to send all the kids in Iraq soccer balls but before he did, he passed away. A neighbor heard about his plan. So he got people to donate soccer balls and they sent them to Iraq. Each soccer ball had Nick's name on it. I think this is a very inspiring story.

Prop 8
Prop 8
Tomorrow is election day. I'm sure everyone is excited. Along with selecting a president for our country, we have to vote on some propositions. One proposition is prop 8. I think people should vote no on prop 8 because everyone should have equal rights. If you love someone, you should be able to marry them if you want to. I think it's very unfair to take away those rights because everyone is equal. If gay marriage is taught in school, I think it isn't bad. Kids are still going to find out either way. So i think people should vote no on prop 8 because of people deserve there equal rights.

Halloween :)
Halloween
This is one of my favorite holidays. It is so much fun. Halloween is one day where you get to be someone else instead of yourself. Costumes are so much fun and on top of that there's candy! Everyone loves candy. Well, mostly everyone. Trick-or-treating is so much fun. I love spending it with my friends and family. The haunted houses are the best but I hate when people jump out at you. It's really scary but it's really fun. Happy Halloween(:

2008 Presidential Election
Obama or McCain?
Election day is November 4th, 2008. Although I can't vote, my support goes to senator Barrack Obama. (: I totally support Obama because he is trying to make college more affordable. In Channel 1's vote for kids, Obama won with 59% and McCain with 41%. Nickolalodeon also had an election and Barrack Obama won, too. This election is going to be a tough one. What do you think and who do you vote for?

Affirmative Action
Affirmative Action?
Colleges should not accept students based on their race. I think that is very wrong because some people might feel out of place at a certain college. If they look different and people are always saying the only reason they go to that school is because of their race, they might feel bad. I think that this is not okay because everyone should be treated equally no matter what their race is. Affirmative action is wrong because their race does not matter. I think their intelligence level is way more important that your race.

Drug Free(:
Red Ribbon Week
This week is national red ribbon week. I am wearing my red bracelet. How about you? I think this is a great way for schools to encourage students to stay drug-free. Even if your not a student, I think it's a good idea to wear red all week. Drug-free week is fun and I think all students should participate because you can tell everyone that you are drug-free. Red-ribbon week is a great and fun way to commit yourself to being drug-free. (:
